Sergey Bondarenko has worked in bronze for more than forty years. Born in Minsk in 1956, he trained under Zair Azgur at the USSR Academy of Arts and has been a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists since 1985.
His subject is the horse. He models from life, and casts every piece himself — plasticine to wax to bronze, every stage by his own hand. Alongside the studio work he has produced major public sculpture in Belarus, including the Alley of Olympic Glory at Minsk-Arena and the equestrian monument to Grand Duke Algirdas in Vitebsk.
